Owners Joyce Green (Jordan Hill Farm) and Debbie Gallant (Imagination Images) have been working together to create a bird sanctuary on their combined properties. Jordan Hill’s 90 plus acre farm will house the majority of the sanctuary. Ms. Green purchased historic Jordan Hill Farm almost a decade ago to open a countryside venue where people could enjoy scenic property. Ms. Gallant is a member of NANPA (North American Nature Photographer’s Association) and travels frequently, photographing wildlife and vistas around the world.
Trails will connect the properties and guests at Jordan Hill Farm will have access to enjoy the adjoining property. Ms. Gallant has created a butterfly habitat on her property which guests are invited to enjoy as well.
Among the wildlife you can find white-tailed deer, coyotes, wild turkeys, and fox. A tremendous variety of birds from predators such as hawks and owls, to songbirds, and occasionally varieties of heron can be found here. Some are year-round residents and others are migratory visitors. Both properties have a large population of hummingbirds which are often the delight of many of the guests. Bird watchers and photographers will enjoy the northern mockingbirds, red-winged blackbirds, eastern bluebirds, Baltimore orioles, indigo buntings, gold finches and more. The landowners involved with this project are working with their county extension office to ensure proper habitats are provided.
